Netball Development Manager – 30hrs per week

Auckland Netball, situated in St Johns, only 10 minutes from the City centre, is a significant contributor to netball in New Zealand. The largest centre in New Zealand is home to over 982 affiliated teams and 30,000 members and participants. Auckland Netball is known for providing netball participation and performance, promoting healthy active lifestyles and being a quality sporting, recreation and business hub for the wider community.

Commencing at the beginning of 2018, this role will be responsible for developing, leading and implementing a progressive plan for coaching, umpire and player development areas of the organisation that will deliver on objectives outlined in the strategic and annual plans. Key areas of responsibility include Coach Development and Education, Umpire Development and initiatives to increase capacity and capability and to oversee Auckland Netball’s representative programme.

This role will work closely with the Player Welfare Liaison, ensuring player welfare continues to be enhanced.

The Netball Development Manager will lead the Programme Development Officer whose role it isto build and diversify participants of Auckland Netball development programmes, achieving targets through quality service delivery and promotional activities to the wider community.

This role requires leadership with the ability to be able to establish and maintain relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.  An understanding of sport performance, development and player welfare would also be an added advantage.

Although the role will commence in 2018, we would like the successful candidate to have input
into 2018 planning, therefore we envisage availability for a few hours for this towards the latter
part of the year.

Become a Volunteer

Auckland Netball are looking for volunteers to assist us at our busy netball centre. Even if it’s for an hour every couple of weeks, any volunteer help would be appreciated. Below are some examples of where you could assist us:

  • Folding bibs / leaflets
  • Writing up scorecards
  • Prizegivings – sorting team prizes
  • Helping at our netball tournaments
  • Handing out sponsors offers / flyers
  • Selling netballs / merchandise
  • Uniform collection, washing and drying
  • Writing up match reports
