Become an Umpire

To take the court at Auckland Netball and umpire games it is highly recommended that you attend one of these clinics.  With international rules updated every four years it is important for all players, managers, umpires to keep up to date with current rulings.  These classes are for primary, intermediate, secondary school and club umpires.

”I found the course fantastic, as the rules have changed since my school girl days, and it is great to see the game through the eyes of an umpire. Knowing the rules inside and out will be an asset as a coach and an umpire. The facilitator was very thorough, and made it all very easy to remember. I enjoyed the laughs and winning lots of chocolate!”

“As an active umpire, this was an invaluable session for me, it was great to go back to the basics and go through so much.  We were very fortunate to have so many experts on hand to clarify situations/infringements as they occurred in the games and to tap into their wealth of knowledge.  This should be an essential part of gaining your umpiring certificate”.

– Kim Williams

Umpiring In Schools

Auckland Netball offers all member secondary schools the Umpiring in Schools Programme.  We will come into your school during the day, before or after school, as required to deliver a fun, dynamic ‘Become an Umpire’ session (subject to facilitator availability).

“I really liked taking the umpiring course, I found it really enjoyable and it wasn’t even that hard! I recommend everyone take the umpiring course because you can pass and become an umpire regardless your level of netball.  Thank you for teaching me how to become an umpire. I think the umpiring course should be in more schools because I know a lot of my friends would love to be an umpire but their school does not offer it.”

– Michelle Madziva, Epsom Girls Grammar.
